Road Trip with an Active Baby

Our family recently took a road trip to the mountains for a weekend getaway. Since having our baby, Rhodes, traveling looks a lot different than it used to. We most definitely have more luggage with us, make more stops and pack a lot more snacks. With that said, this doesn’t mean road trips are not enjoyable for us, they are just different. Now that Rhodes is a very active 9 month old, we found if he wasn’t sleeping he needed some sense of entertainment (which I will share more in detail below). Here’s a few things that worked for us traveling with our little.

-dress in a sleeper to make changes easy/keep baby warm

-bring blankets for additional warmth

-drive as much as possible during nap times

-make frequent stops

-lots of snacks/premixed bottles of formula

-various toys to rotate throughout the drive

-someone sits in the back seat to keep baby entertained

-cocomelon (he had the biggest smile every time we put it on)

-a sound machine while he’s napping
